Department of Agriculture - Forest Service – Forest Service Acquisition Services Acquisition – This program is to support a comprehensive IT service program to enhance the existing Forest Service Information Resources Management (IRM) Program and provide required contract resources to the Information Solutions Organization (ISO).
The Phase I of IT services acquisition strategy includes Infrastructure Support, Communications and Monitoring and Overarching IT support
The US Department of Treasury - Departmental Offices (DO) - IT Infrastructure Managed Services (IIMS) - The IIMS will promote a performance based approach involving pre-established and mutually agreed upon performance metrics documented in SLAs, along with appropriate incentives for exceeding thresholds and disincentives for not meeting them. IIMS requires the service provider to migrate the DO IT service delivery process to a maturity level that is consistent with an IT process model or framework such as ITIL, CMMI, ISO9000, or Service Oriented Infrastructure Management over the initial year of the engagement.
AWIPS 90 Proposal team - US Dept of Commerce (DOC) - National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) - The National Weather Service (NWS) has been engaged in modernizing and restructuring its operations. The activities include as major development of a new radar system (NEXRAD and WSR-88D), a new automated surface observing system (ASOS), and a new communications and forecaster workstation system, the Advanced Weather Interactive Processing System (AWIPS).
The Reserve Component Automation System (RCAS) proposal – Army Reserve and National Guard - RCAS is an automated information system that supports commanders with information needed for reserve component mobilization and day-to-day administrative operations. It is a sustaining base functionally oriented networked system of workstations, employing primarily commercial-off-the-shelf and government-off-the-shelf software applications. The RCAS was built to interface with numerous existing and future Standard Army Management Information Systems, certain National Guard standard systems and systems designated by the Office of the Chief, Army Reserve. RCAS supports the Joint Vision 2010 concept of information superiority by supporting the readiness of the Army reserve components, increasing their responsiveness, and enabling them to rapidly integrate into joint organizations. Further, RCAS provides the communications and coordination capabilities necessary to mobilize the Army reserve components.
Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC) – Treasury Communications systems (TCS) Procurement - Department of Treasury - TCS objective was to improve upon those services provided by CDN, either through enhancement or replacement of existing infrastructure, assets, and services. TCS planned to provide desktop-to-desktop data services for the entire Department of the Treasury and other federal and commercial locations for domestic and international requirements by installing multiple high-speed networks to support applications that include upgraded e-mail, e-commerce, security services, and videoconferencing. The requirements of the contract were later modified to include outsourced services from commercial carriers in place of installation of a private backbone network.
ISI – The Department of Veterans Affair (VA) - The Integrated Data Communications Utility (IDCU) Program – The IDCU is a VA Department-wide data communications network. IDCU enabled VA users to connect from one automated system to another and to access various databases. IDCU provided key data communications support to over 500 VA sites and serves about 60,000 users that are connected to the IDCU. The network enables customers at each of the facilities to communicate with each other and access and transmit key information and data in support of the Department’s mission of providing patient care and delivery of benefits to the nation’s veterans.
Boeing Computer Services – General Services Administration (GSA) - Federal Technology Service (FTS) 2000 – FTS2000 was a telecommunications contract and was competed in late 1980’s. It has provided a higher quality of service to Federal customers through a public-private partnership. Provision of services has been conducted through private sector-owned and operated telecommunications resources. FTS2000 customer agencies, which include DoD and civilian agencies and their contractors, have had access to several inter-city telecommunications services. FTS2000 uses digital telecommunications and fiber optics to provide state-of-the-art switched voice, packet switched, switched data, dedicated transmission, video transmission and switched digital integrated services.
US Air Force - Unified Local Area Network Architecture (ULANA) – ULANA procurement to provide government customers with computer networking products and services. The ULANA program was procured by the United States Air Force 38th Engineering Installation Wing, Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma. ULANA provides DoD and federal agency customers with state-of-the-art, commercial off-the-shelf hardware, software and engineering and support services which LAN developers can use to acquire equipment and services to meet current and future information requirements.
Department of State Telecommunications Network (DOSTN) – DOSTN is a “black” transmission facility. The program was estimated to be worth more than $200 million. The contract is to design and operate the global DOSTN connecting 275 domestic and foreign locations of the State Department and other U.S. foreign affairs agencies with a distributive computer network. The State Department wanted to have a network in which all circuits reach the State Department through a series of point-to-point communication connection.
Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC) – Service Center Support System/Telecommunications Acquisition (SCSS/TA)
Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC) – U.S. Army - Sustaining Base Information System (SBIS) - The SBIS was designed to modernize the U.S. Army's information management systems via a transition to an open systems environment. The Army's initiative encompasses a computing and communications system that will provide access to information regardless of physical location, operating system, host processor type, database management system, application software or network infrastructure.
The Government Open Systems Interconnection Profile (GOSIP) – GOSIP is a specification that profiles networking products for procurement by the Federal Government of the United States. The specification was first published as FIPS 146-1 in 1990, and required OSI protocols be used. The requirement for vendors to demonstrate their support for this profile led to the growth of formal interoperability and conformance testing for networking products during government procurements.
The Bureau of Land Management - Automated Land and Mineral Record System (ALMRS) program – ALMRS oversees the use of millions of acres of federal land keeping track of oil gas and mineral leases and lease applications as well as timber and land sales. The system has been undergoing modernization since 1993 and has already seen its costs bloom. In 1993 the bureau estimated the cost to modernize the system through 2002 to be $403 million. Under ALMRS, more than 6,000 IBM Corp. RISC System/6000 workstations was be installed
US Department of Agriculture (USDA) - the Forest Service - Project 615 - The Forest Service is involved in fighting forest fires, timber harvesting, assigning grazing rights and managing neighboring tracts of land. IBM Corp. RISC System/6000 workstations will be installed under the Forest Service project 615, worth $276 million. Project 615 will provide the Forest Service and other USDA agencies with a modern GIS to manage lands.
Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC) - Department of Housing and Urban Development - HIPS program.
